The purpose of the project was to improve food security and income-generating activity of smallholders through making available to them a high-yielding bean variety with high market potential. Access to technical information and to seed of improved bean varieties was assessed. This was done by distributing the variety through a combination of government agencies, NGOs and Community-based organisations. Distribution of improved bean varieties was supported by an information campaign.
