Diffusion of innovation in low-income countries

Abstract

This brief summarises and sets in context the project ‘Diffusion of Innovation in Low-Income Countries (DILIC)’ project. The project was funded by the Department for International Development - Economic and Social Research Council ‘Growth Research Programme’ (DEGRP)

Beginning in 2012, DILIC was led by Xiaolan Fu, Professor of Technology and International Development at Oxford University. Combining broader cross-country analysis and a narrower focus on Ghana – until recently a low-income country- it explored the determinants and transmission channels for effective innovation creation, diffusion and adoption in low-income countries (LICs) under institutional, financial and human resources constraints.
