The overall objective of the project was to improve the system by which yams are marketed in and exported from Ghana. Specific objectives were; to identify the technical and socioeconomic constraints to the system; to improve handling, storage and export protocols; develop recommendations to improve linkages between growers and exporters; to reduce the incidence of chronic rots in yams entering the marketing chain; and devise improved methods for the grading of yams.
