Development and Support to the Implementation of a Strategy for the Establishment of a Road Research Centre in South Sudan

Preliminary Findings

Abstract

South Sudan is in the process of establishing a Road Research Centre (RRC). To achieve this, it is necessary to develop and establish a robust strategy for research that will support the development of the new RRC. AfCAP is providing technical assistance to the South Sudan Ministry of Roads and Bridges for the development and support to the implementation of a strategy for the establishment of the RRC. A situational assessment study is necessary in order to develop a strategic plan that is responsive to the country’s needs. Information gathering has been conducted through documentation review and consultative meetings with key stakeholders in the road sector in South Sudan. The findings are preliminary, and provide the basis for developing the key objectives and strategy for the establishment of the RRC, to ensure sustainable research capacity in the road sector in South Sudan.
