Design, Construction and Monitoring of Demonstration Sites for District Road Improvement in Tanzania to the Prime Minister’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PMO-RALG) under the African Community Access Programme (AFCAP). Siha Final Monitoring Report

Abstract

The Prime Minister's Office of Regional Administration and Local Government (PMO-RALG) has set up the Local Government Transport Programme (LGTP) with the aim of supporting rural development and poverty alleviation. AFCAP has been asked to assist with the implementation of demonstration sites in selected districts in Tanzania.

A number of demonstration sections were constructed at Siha. The construction of the demonstration sections was completed in September 2012 and monitoring conducted in January and April 2013. Most of the sections have performed well, particularly the double surface dressing, concrete paving blocks and concrete geosell. This report details the findings from the data collection during monitoring, interpretation of the data, conclusions drawn and subsequent recommendations.

Data recorded from this project is also available for you to utilise and build upon. This DVD can be ordered by contacting Karen Harries (Karen.Harries@crownagents.co.uk), Programme Manager of AFCAP at Crown Agents, St Nicholas House, St Nicholas Rd, Sutton, Surrey SM1 1EL.
