This note advises economists, planners and engineers in developing countries on a method that can be used to cost road accidents

Abstract

The objective of Overseas Road Note is to advise economists, planners and engineers in developing countries on a method that can be used to cost road accidents. Information is also provided on how to collect the data required and this is illustrated by means of a case-study. The Note also uses results from appraisals carried out in different countries to illustrate the effects of including accident savings in highway cost-benefit analyses.
