Abstract
This is a letter by the author, correcting a point in a New Scientist article about his group's research study on families and TB (New Scientist, 25 March, p 6). The New Scientist incorrectly stated that family members and health workers were used as treatment observers, whereas the study actually used family members and community volunteers. For the sites used in Nepal, \"health workers weren't suitable as treatment observers, as most patients live too far away from health workers to make this feasible.\"
