Abstract

This summary report describes a study of the role of the community in the Community Midwives Programme. It aimed to determine both the recognition given to the role of the community in the programme guiding documents and among the programme managers and advisors, and the attitude, perceptions and utilization of the community midwives by the community. The study method, results, conclusions and recommendations are outlined.
