Abstract

This project was designed to examine current practice in the development and restoration of gravel borrow pits, assess the effects on the environment and seek possible ways of reducing consequent environmental damage. The project also aimed at increasing the environmental awareness of road engineers in the region to the problems of extracting non-renewable natural resources used for road construction.
