Coastal Aquaculture and Environment: Strategies for Sustainability.

Abstract

This project was designed to identify the constraints to sustainability in coastal aquaculture as modelled by shrimp farming. It has shown how environmental factors, as well as socio-economic factors have contributed to a lack of sustainability. THe project has provided a better understanding of the impacts of aquaculture development in the coastal zone and has also illustrated how fear of disease can affect management practices, leading to more stress within the system.
