Cell culture systems for the isolation of crustacean viruses. Final Project Report.

Abstract

The work carried out and the results obtained for this project, which aimed to define the biological and environmental factors mediating the in vitro growth of cells derived from shrimps/prawns, to establish laboratory cell line cultures from economically important tropical shrimps/prawns and to investigate the use of fish and insect cell line cultures for the recovery of crustacean viruses, is presented. Implications of the results for achieving the objectives and priority tasks for follow up are discussed.
