Case studies on capacity building in the water, sanitation and hygiene sectors. Final Report, April 2010.

Abstract

This is the response to a DEWPoint helpdesk enquiry. A number of case study examples on capacity building in the water, sanitation and hygiene sectors, based on learning from Water, Engineering and Development Centre (WEDC), are provided. These case studies cover: (1) Training in equity and inclusion for engineers; (2) Research capacity development; (3) Developing a quality multi-dimensional specialist WASH workforce; (4) The disconnect between sector employers and sector education and training institutions; (5) Networks as a model for capacity building and knowledge sharing; and (6) Strategy and human resource development planning.

This report was produced by DEW Point, a Resource Centre for Environment, Water and Sanitation, that was funded by DFID and managed by a consortium of companies led by Harewelle International Limited. The Resource Centre closed in 2012.
