Brief history of cassava brown streak virus disease.

Abstract

A brief history of cassava brown streak virus disease (CBSD) is presented. The first report by Warburg in 1894 was from German East Africa (later Tanganyika and now Tanzania) of a virus disease of cassava. This was termed 'krauselkrankheit', which is now referred to as cassava mosaic virus disease.
