Assessing the impact of a micro-finance programme: Orangi Pilot Project, Karachi, Pakistan.

Abstract

This report is adapted from an impact study (Reference of Akbar Zaidi Study) carried out for the micro-finance programme of OPP's Orangi Charitable Trust (OCT - a well-known NGO in Pakistan) established in 1987. It includes an introduction to the programme and a livelihoods analysis to inform the strategies on urban poverty reduction. The end of the report draws conclusions for the benefit of similar programmes elsewhere.
