Appropriateness of user fees for family planning in Malawi: findings from focus group discussions.

Abstract

Sixteen focus group discussions were held in 3 regions of Malawi with large urban poor population served by private family planning providers. The aims were to assess the ability of clients to pay for reproductive health by identifying household income, assets, expenditure and social support; the willingness to pay by type and quality of services; and to explore the feasibility range of payment options for poor communities. The findings are briefly discussed.
