Approaches to Meet the Demand for Newcastle Disease Vaccine for Backyard Poultry Sector in India

Focuses on multi-party models of extending coverage for vaccines, where the private sector plays a major role

Abstract

In this study, the authors depart from the norm of government, donor agencies and NGO-led programmes of poverty alleviation and focus on multi-party models of extending coverage for Newcastle Disease (ND) vaccines, where the private sector also plays a major role. In the case of vaccination for backyard poultry birds, the private sector is better placed than the government sector to meet the demand for ND vaccination because of the developed infrastructure serving the industrial poultry sector.
