Analysis of income and income structure of doctors in three different level hospitals in Shandong Province

Abstract

In order to get information about the total income and income from part-time medical jobs, we conducted research among doctors from three different level hospitals in Shandong. Findings include: the income paid to doctors by public hospitals is some how average; pursuing part-time medical jobs or dual practice contributes to these doctors' income; dual practice has some comparative high requirements on doctors, such as a senior technical post and more clinical experience. In the health system reform, the value of technique and labour should be paid more importance in the setting of medical service price, the proportion of expenditure on staff and total pay should be enhanced, and policies about dual practice should be set.
