An Overview of the Water Supply and Sanitation System at Metropolitan and Peri-Urban Level: the Case of Chennai.

Abstract

This paper first gives an overview of the metropolitan area and identifies the peri-urban case study localities before discussing demographic and socio-economic characteristics and trends of Water Supply and Sanitation (WSS). By exploring the trends of WSS the focus is evidently on the city, as the peri-urban areas still do not have any structured water supply and sanitation systems.

This report is also available from The Development Planning Unit website and can be downloaded as the full report, the report without maps, the maps only, or an executive summary.
