Presents finding from 2 scoping visits to Nigeria

Abstract

This report presents the findings of 2 scoping visits to Nigeria by John Gaventa and Angela Christie in June and Tade Aina and Femi Balogun in July, 2016 for the Action for Empowerment and Accountability Programme. The purpose of the visits was to determine whether Nigeria presents opportunities for operationally relevant, robust and contemporary research to understand:

  • the role of social and political action in fostering effective empowerment and accountability
  • the role of external actors in supporting these change processes
  • opportunities for research communication and uptake

This scoping study was conducted as part of the inception phase for the DFID-funded Action for Empowerment and Accountability Research Programme (A4EA).
