Access to and utilisation of professional child delivery services in Uganda and Bangladesh - Bangladesh Country Report.

Investigation into the factors affecting women's choice and ability to use professional delivery attendance

Abstract

The high maternal mortality rate in Bangladesh, and low use of skilled attendance prompted this investigation into the factors affecting women’s choice and ability to use professional delivery attendance, in particular delivery in a health facility. In Bangladesh deliveries are meant to be conducted at the Family Welfare Center, at the Union Level. Yet as this study found, very few deliveries were conducted there. A majority of facility deliveries are conducted at the Upazila (sub-district) and District level instead.
