| ² The general principle is that hospitality must only be accepted in exceptional circumstances and which are appropriate to the circumstances, for example offered in the course of a normal business meeting or by a delegation of an overseas government; are modest and appropriate, or routine hospitality such as coffee and biscuits, or a light working lunch. Does not normally include attendance at functions hosted by HM Government; 'diplomatic' functions in the UK or abroad, hosted by overseas governments; minor refreshments at meetings, receptions, conferences, and seminars; and offers of hospitality which were declined. |
