To provide conveyancing services in England and Wales, you can register with the Council for Licensed Conveyancers (CLC).

Conveyancing services include:

  • preparation of transfers, conveyances, contracts and other documents and services related to the disposition or acquisition of estates or interests in land
  • preparing any instrument of transfer or charge for the purposes of, or making an application for registration under, the Land Registration Act 2002
  • preparing any other legal instrument relating to real or personal estate

The CLC issues licences to enable licensed conveyancers to provide conveyancing services and probate services. Other regulators have similar powers.

Applications must be submitted in accordance with the CLC rules and must be accompanied by a fee.
