You need police approval if you hold a Great Britain (GB) firearm certificate and wish to possess firearms/ammunition in Northern Ireland.
You must apply at least 4 weeks before your proposed visit.
How to apply
Download an application form from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) website.
Return your completed form and a copy of your current GB firearm or shotgun certificate to the PSNI Firearms and Explosives Branch.

You must apply for a Visitor’s Firearm Permit if you’re not a resident of Northern Ireland or GB. You will need a resident Northern Ireland sponsor to apply on your behalf.
Fines and penalties
You may be fined or imprisoned if you possess firearms or ammunition, or both, without the necessary certificates.
