Challenge a parking fine
Challenge a penalty charge notice (PCN) for parking with the local council that issued it.
Use the council’s postcode.
If you get a text message from Department for Transport (DfT) telling you to pay an unpaid parking fine, this is a scam. DfT does not issue parking fines. Read advice on what to do if you receive a scam message.
What you need to know
Available in England and Wales only.
You have 28 days to challenge a PCN. If you do it within 14 days and your challenge is rejected, you may only have to pay 50% of the fine.
If your parking fine is not from a council
Check the parking ticket to find out who issued it and how to challenge it.
