You may need a licence to use government digital mapping intellectual property in Northern Ireland.

You can order government digital mapping data from Land & Property Services (LPS) and Ordnance Survey of Northern Ireland (OSNI) up to a limit of £3,000 directly from the LPS website. You need to apply for a licence for orders in excess of £3,000.

How to apply

Download an application form from the LPS website.

You’ll need to provide:

  • your details
  • technical specifications of your software and required data format(s)
  • an estimate of the number of hard copies you intend to make
  • details of the data you require

Completed forms should be returned to LPS Digital Supply.

Your licence will be valid for a minimum period of 12 months.

Conditions

You can use the licensed data for internal use within your business. All other uses are prohibited.

Your licence will only permit the use of data for:

  • copying for back-up purposes
  • the making of hard copies (as outlined on your application form)
  • adapting
  • merging
  • integrating
  • sub-licensing

You need to complete a sub-licence application form where a third party is involved.
