General information

UKMis Brussels offers employees a range of challenging, varied and interesting career opportunities. Our daily work relies on the input of dedicated individuals who engage on many different topics and activities. We seek to employ candidates from a range of backgrounds and nationalities who bring their own talents to the role.

Civil Service recruitment

Many of our staff are recruited from the UK Civil Service, not only through the diplomatic service, but from the full range of government departments. More information about the range of work that civil servants do and the vast career opportunities available is available on the UK Civil Service website.

The UK missions in Belgium occasionally offers internship experience for students and are advertised openly on our website.

All such appointments are made on merit following the recruitment process, including interviews and security clearance. We consider all applications and invite a selection of candidates for interview. Only those selected for interview will be contacted. All invited candidates can expect a competency-based interview conducted in English by a panel of staff. Interviews may also include a short practical exercise testing specific skills required for each role.

We do not offer any exclusive arrangements or ad-hoc agreements with any academic institution or similar organisation for the provision of internships which would exclude other eligible candidates from accessing the advertised opportunity.

Applicant for local internships should specify if they will be funded through the Erasmus, Leonardo program or Erasmus plus (for UK-based students). Occasionally we will also offer paid internships. Additionally, UK-based students should reference the experience page on the FCO website. Potential interns in the UK have access to a range of centrally-run schemes.
