H.E Rowan James Laxton
British High Commissioner to Cameroon
The British High Commission in Cameroon maintains and develops relations between the UK and Cameroon.
We offer consular support to British nationals across four countries, including through a network of resident honorary consuls:
In Cameroon, we support the country’s goal of becoming an emerging economy by 2035 by supporting sustainable democratic reform, challenging corruption, supporting adherence to international human rights standards and improving commercial co-operation. We work closely together as partners in the Commonwealth.
In Gabon, our dedicated commercial office is increasing trade between our two countries, building on existing business links, as part of Gabon’s commitment to becoming an emerging economy by 2025. We also work together on climate change issues.
In Chad, we work closely with diplomatic partners, the UN – including on the UN Security Council - and other agencies to support Chad’s development following the country’s emergence from conflict in 2009. We also engage with the Chadian Government on wider issues in the Sahel, including development and counter-terrorism, recent events in Mali and on Sudan.
In Equatorial Guinea, we are working to develop closer commercial links to support UK prosperity and pro-poor development. We also work with international partners to support improved governance and respect for human rights.
Across the sub-region, we support co-operation on climate change and energy security.
Find out more on our UK and Cameroon news page. We provide services to British nationals living in and visiting Cameroon.

Apply online for an emergency travel document
If the person needing the emergency travel document is under 16, a parent or guardian should apply on their behalf.
If you are due to travel in the next 24 hours, contact us as soon as possible.
If you are travelling in more than 3 weeks, check if you can get a new or replacement passport in time to travel.
If you’re not sure, check if you’re a British citizen
If you’re not a British citizen but think you may be eligible, contact us to apply for an emergency travel document.
For legal reasons, we’re unable to carry out notarial acts in Commonwealth countries. This includes certifying documents as true copies of originals, administering oaths or taking affidavits. For these or other notarial acts, you should contact a local notary.
We charge fees for some of our services. See the full list of consular fees in Cameroon or the list of consular fees for other countries.
