The US Network is the name for His Majesty’s Government’s (HMG – the British Government) operation in the US. Country Based Staff (CBS) working in the US Network are an integral part of the Network’s operational delivery, alongside British diplomats. CBS working in the US Network whether in the British Embassy in Washington, DC, the UK Mission to the United Nations in New York, one of our British Consulates General or one of our UK Government Offices, get a unique opportunity to both positively contribute to advancing the UK’s interests in the US and further their own career development during their time as part of our team. Eligibility
You must have the right to live and work in the US in order to take up this role, whether in your own right or as a dependant (including of posted British diplomats), and be able to demonstrate that when required. If you are not a US citizen, dual US citizen or US Permanent Resident, it is your responsibility check your eligibility to work for a foreign government in the United States, and specifically to work in the role and in the location that you apply for, and to provide proof of your eligibility via an Employment Authorisation Document or other relevant document when required. The UK Government does not routinely sponsor work visas; the job advertisement will state clearly whether sponsorship is available.
