Update or cancel your registered designs
You need to tell the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) if any details held in the register of designs need to be updated.
- change the name or address of an owner of a UK design registration or application by filling in form DF16A ‘Change of proprietor’s name or address’
- appoint or change an agent to manage your registered designs, or update contact details by using form DF1A ‘Appointment or change of agent or contact address’
- correct any small errors on the register by writing to the IPO with details of what’s wrong
- remove your design from the registry at any time by completing form DF19C ‘Notice by proprietor to cancel a registration’
Don’t cancel your design if it will affect anyone else, eg if you’ve licensed the design to someone.
What happens next
You’ll be told if you need to provide any further information, otherwise the register will be updated and you’ll be notified by post.
There is no charge to update the register of designs.
