People experiencing drug and/or alcohol dependence may be disproportionately affected by drug‑resistant infections due to increased infection risk, comorbidities, and barriers to consistent, non‑judgemental care. These are factors that intersectional AMR research identifies as drivers of inequitable AMR exposure and outcomes.
