How to access the GOV.UK Wallet sandbox

Find out how to access the GOV.UK Wallet sandbox to test how GOV.UK Wallet will work with your service.

Digital verification service (DVS) providers can use the GOV.UK Wallet sandbox to build and test their service before moving to production.

To access the sandbox, you must first be registered and certified against the trust framework.

How the GOV.UK Wallet sandbox works

The sandbox is a collection of tools, which includes the:

  • GOV.UK Wallet test app
  • document builder and credential issuer
  • certificate authority

The sandbox is not a production environment. It cannot be used for penetration testing, or as an end-to-end, performance or production environment. However, you can create a test driving licence and use the sharing mechanism to check it with your verifier.

You can find out more about how the sandbox works in the GOV.UK Wallet technical documentation
