Guidance
Exporting to Japan after Brexit if there’s no deal
Guidance explaining changes for UK exporters to Japan if we leave the EU with no deal.
Trade agreement
The UK will not agree arrangements with Japan by exit day.
If the UK leaves the EU without a deal, existing trade agreements would no longer apply. This would mean the UK would not have preferential trade arrangements for exports to Japan.
See the status of discussions with Japan.
Tariffs and quotas
If the UK leaves the EU without a deal, it would export to Japan on Most Favoured Nation terms under World Trade Organization (WTO) rules.
