Electric vehicle chargepoint and infrastructure grant guidance for installers

Guidance for installers about the OZEV electric vehicle chargepoint and infrastructure grants

Grant changes from 1 April 2026

OZEV’s home and workplace grants have been extended for a final year, with a streamlined, simplified portfolio.

Five chargepoint grant schemes are available until 31 March 2027 with new grant rates.

See the section of this guidance below for the grants that are available.

Read separate guidance for more information about changes to OZEV’s home and workplace grants from 1 April 2026.

You need to be an OZEV authorised installer to claim the OZEV electric vehicle (EV) chargepoint grants.

This page gives an overview of the grant process for authorised installers.

Your responsibilities as an authorised installer

As an authorised installer, you must:

  • help the customer to understand if they meet the grant criteria
  • only install eligible chargepoint models
  • test that all installed chargepoints work and meet safety requirements
  • provide and upload all documentation to submit the claim
  • not charge customers for the grant in advance of a claim
  • provide the customer with one invoice per application
  • agree to receive regular emails from OZEV – these contain important updates about chargepoint grants

Become an authorised installer

To apply to become an authorised installer, you need to complete an authorised installer application.

We will send you a letter saying you are authorised. You will then be able to offer the grants to your customers.

Grants that are available to your customers

The following grants are available towards the installation of EV chargepoints and infrastructure:

Overview of the grant process

Chargepoint grants for renters and flat owners and residential landlords

  1. Customer contacts you for a quote.

  2. Customer fills in the application form.

  3. We contact you and the applicant to confirm they are eligible.

  4. You install the eligible chargepoint chosen by your customer.

  5. You submit your claim using the link provided to you, uploading photos and providing information as requested on the form.

  6. We assess your claim and if it is successful, pay you the grant.

Chargepoint grant for households with on-street parking

  1. Customer contacts you for a quote.

  2. Customer completes an application form.

  3. We confirm the customer’s eligibility for the grant and send them information, including an installer’s terms and conditions letter to share with you.

  4. You install the chargepoint. If you are not installing the cross-pavement solution yourself, you must ensure the customer has a cross-pavement charging solution provider.

  5. You submit your claim form, supporting information and your invoice.

  6. We assess your claim and if it is successful, pay you the grant.

Submitting a claim

Fill in and submit the Chargepoint grant for households with on-street parking installer claim form.

Staff and fleets grant commercial landlord chargepoint grant and landlord infrastructure grant

These grants closed to installer claims on 26 May 2026. If you have been asked for further information to support your claim you must submit it by 6 July 2026 (unless your current deadline on the portal is earlier).

Read more about the closure of these grants.

Read the Electric vehicle chargepoint and infrastructure specifications page for specifications and information on what you can claim for.

Evidence

To submit a claim, you must provide:

  • details of the chargepoints you install
  • a copy of your invoice – there is invoice guidance on the specifications page

Chargepoint details include:

  • make and model as listed on the OZEV eligible equipment list
  • serial number

Photo requirements to support claims for flats and renters and landlord chargepoint grants

From 1 April 2026, installers’ claims must include the following photographic evidence:

  • a close-up photo of the charge point you installed
  • a photo of the charge point you installed showing the model and serial number
  • a photo of the charge point you installed and the associated parking space
  • a photo with a wide field view of the building or space where the charge point has been installed

Photo and diagram requirements to support claims for the Staff and Fleets and residential landlords’ infrastructure grants

Your claim must include a car park diagram as specified on the claim form.

You must supply photos that show:

  • the installed chargepoint(s) – clear enough to verify the model installed, its serial number, location and wider surroundings
  • electrical equipment installed to ensure appropriate power for all the chargepoints and future connection locations
  • connection locations for future chargepoints and cable routes with cabling running to these locations
    • if cable routes will be covered, ‘in progress’ pictures can be provided - for example, trenches showing cabling to future locations
  • wider pictures of the car park showing the chargepoints installed and connection locations for future chargepoints
  • the property where the installation took place

If need be, to comply with the photo limits on the claim form, you can copy required images of the installation into a Word document – we recommend 2 per page.

All pictures must be clearly labelled and should support statements in your grant claim.

We reserve the right to seek further information or documentary evidence from relevant parties in support of any individual claim.

Workplace Charging Scheme

There is a different process for this grant. You can read more about the Workplace Charging Scheme.

Audit

By claiming a grant, you agree to facilitate and assist in audits as set out.

OZEV will select some installations to be audited. OZEV, or a third-party organisation, will check grant data, statements and records held by you and your customer.

There may be an on-site visit that will require access to the charge point(s) and any equipment that supports their operation. Grant applicants and installers / installer representatives must:

  • permit OZEV, or a third-party OZEV appointed, to inspect the site
  • supply any information or documents requested in relation to the installation, grant application and claim

Audits may take place before or after a claim is paid. Grant applicants and installers / installer representatives must provide the information requested or facilitate a site visit. If this is not provided, we may withhold or reclaim payment of the grant and any other claims that have been submitted for any grant.

Terms and conditions

Read the terms and conditions for home and workplace grant schemes.

If a grant ends or the grant amount changes, the government will:

  • aim to provide 4 weeks’ notice

  • honour claims made before any public announcement, subject to the grant criteria
