How local authorities can apply for electric vehicle (EV) pavement channels grant funding.

The electric vehicle (EV) pavement channels grant funds local authorities to install cross-pavement channels in England. This will support residents without access to off-street parking to charge their EVs at home and benefit from cheaper, domestic tariffs.

Fund objectives

The EV pavement channels grant has the following objectives:

  • to empower local authorities to adopt pavement channels in their EV strategies as a local charging solution
  • to increase EV uptake by supporting residents without off-street parking to charge at home and benefit from cheaper, domestic tariffs
  • to accelerate the rollout of pavement channels

Apply for EV pavement channels grant

The £25 million capital fund will be available to all Tier 1 local authorities (unitary, county or combined authorities) in England for the financial year 2025 to 2026.

Eligible local authorities will need to demonstrate they meet the criteria, (PDF).

Combined authorities will be allocated and issued funding on behalf of authorities in their region. In London, funding will be made available directly to boroughs.

Local authorities will receive their funding upon successful approval of their application.
