British Deputy High Commission Chennai reopens
Both the British Deputy High Commission in Chennai and the Visa Application Centre in Chennai have reopened, having been closed since 1 December due to the floods.
The majority of our staff are now able to come to work and are assessing visas and visa applicants are now able to make applications in Chennai again.
The British Deputy High Commission in Chennai is UKVI’s decision making hub for all of South India and Sri Lanka, and its closure has impacted UK visa applicants in Cochin, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Colombo.
UKVI are now working to assess visas and get passports and documents returned to applicants from across South India as quickly as possible. Visa applicants who submitted their applications before 1 December might face delays as result of the break in service.
UKVI would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused to customers as a result of the adverse weather conditions which are outside of our control.
Customers who need to apply for their visa urgently should contact the International Enquiry Service to discuss their options.
