Statement from British Ambassador to Bahrain

I strongly condemn the bombing in Dair on 14 February which resulted in the death of a policeman, Abdul Waheed Mohammed, and injured others. I offer my sincere condolences to his family.

The UK government fully supports the political dialogue initiative which His Majesty King Hamad has asked his Royal Highness the Crown Prince to take forward. We welcome the steps which have taken place thus far. The only way to achieve peace and stability in Bahrain is through an inclusive, constructive and realistic dialogue that addresses the legitimate aspirations of all Bahrainis. I therefore urge political and community leaders to categorically speak out against violence.
