Online payment option introduced for UK visa applications in India
From 1 May 2013, all UK visa applicants in India will have the option of paying their visa fees online via credit or debit cards.
Customers in India already apply for their visa online, however, from 1 May, customers will have the option to pay for their visa online, using either a MasterCard or Visa card, as part of the online application process. Other methods of payment, including payment at the visa application centre, will continue to be accepted.
Customers are able to continue paying the visa fee by demand draft or in cash at the visa application centre and selected branches of Standard Chartered Bank. Details available here.

Customers in India can now benefit from the option to pay online, the latest improvement in the UK visa service.
This is part of our on-going commitment to offer the best service to our Indian customers. It is also part of the Home Office’s programme of modernisation. This includes moving to an online application process where almost all customers around the world would apply and pay for their visas online.
It will be a much more streamlined application process and is consistent with a wider global trend to online transactions and payments. It will also be a safer system for both customers and staff as it reduces the risk associated with cash payment.

Additional online methods of payment are expected to become available over time, including other payment cards and eWallets.

Customers will continue to pay for their visa in Rupees, although it is intended that once we move to a new system they will also have the choice of making their payment in other major currencies including sterling.
