Projects assistant

This exciting position is part of our aim to develop a stronger and deeper relationship between the UK and Chile, an important priority for the UK government. This position is an important part of the UK’s ‘prosperity’ agenda – which focuses on economic issues broadly defined and aims to strengthen the bilateral relationship, for mutual benefit.

The successful candidate will assist on project work on the prosperity agenda, including issues such as climate change, education, science and innovation and trade. They will also be involved in events planning and organisation. The officer will sometimes be asked to assist on other areas. Further detail on the breakdown of responsibilities in this job can be found below.

Type of work Duties & responsibilities % of time
Project Management Lead on implementation of Prosperity projects, including liaising with implementers, processing payments, monitoring and evaluating projects etc, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and on budget 40%
Project Management Lead on reporting to London on project issues, including monthly financial reporting and quarterly project updates 10%
Information Management Proactively act as information officer for team, drafting website articles, maintaining contact databases etc/ 10%
Events management Assist policy officers on events, including logistics, booking facilities, assisting on visitor programmes etc 20%
Project management Assist other Embassy sections on project administration and implementation in times of peak activity 20%

Successful applicants will have the following qualities and skills:

  • At least 2-4 years of work experience in an office environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Strong project and budget management experience
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and Spanish.
  • Basic IT skills
  • An ability to work independently and show initiative

Core Hours

36 hours per week Monday to Thursday 9 am -5:30 pm with a 30 minute lunch break Friday 9 am -1 pm Occasional evening work will be required. Holiday Entitlement 18 days

Salary

CLP$ 1046286.- gross per month.

Employment is subject to a 12 month fixed contract with the possibility of renewing for a permanent contract. Access to a medical scheme and other benefits are available after signing this second contract.
