UKTI Taiwan to host webinar on rail opportunities in Taiwan

Taiwan’s mainline railway has been in operation for 126 years. There are lots of business opportunities to offer.

Taiwan’s mainline railway has been in operation for 126 years and the length is around 1061 kilometres.

There are opportunities for major upgrades such as the South-Link Line Railway Electrification Project: The length of this project is 123.4km, budget is £576 million, and duration to 2020. The scope of the works includes electricity, catenaries, signal, electrical, mechanical facilities and track work.

In addition, there will be a major programme of signalling upgrades and Overhead Catenaries System (OCS) renewal with total value of £2billion. The longer term project Nangang to Ilan Project: the length is 36km and budget is £678 million.

UKTI Taipei team has built up an effective approach to Taiwan Railway authorities to lobby and pursue railway projects in Taiwan. On 22 to 26 February 2016, UKTI will organise a mission to UK to raise UK railway profile and UK companies can meet potential clients from Taiwan to discuss commercial opportunities.
