Kyrgyz Ministry of Defence (MOD) conducts defence staff talks in London

A four man delegation from the MOD of the Kyrgyz Republic led by Colonel Diushekeev visited London in order to conduct defence staff talks with the UK MOD.

They were briefed on the UK’s perspective of ISAF operations in Afghanistan and progress in the development of the Northern Lines of Communication. There was substantive discussion of the programme of Military Cooperation for the year ahead and at the conclusion of the talks Colonel Diushekeev and the Head of the UK Delegation, Mrs Debbie Brothers signed the Military Cooperation Plan for FY13/14.

After completing the talks in London, the delegation went to the Czech Republic to visit the British Military Training and Advisory Team (BMATT -CZ) where they were briefed on the approach that UK takes to its training generally and to its mission specific training for Afghanistan. Commander BMATT(CZ) - Colonel Andrew Cuthbert - explained the opportunities that exist for partner countries and specifically for Kyrgyz students to attend Peacekeeping courses at Vyskov. The Kyrgyz delegation witnessed at first hand the ongoing Design and Evaluation of Peace Support Operations Training Course.
