International Trade Secretary Liam Fox visits the Philippines

Liam Fox MP, Secretary of State for International Trade to visit the Philippines

Liam Fox, the UK’s Secretary of State for International Trade, is in Manila for talks on trade and investment in the Philippines.

During his visit, he will call on President Rodrigo Duterte and discuss a wide range of issues including ways to strengthen the UK and Philippines’ bilateral trade and investment relationship. He will meet the cabinet secretaries at the Department of Trade and Industry and Department of Finance.

Dr Fox will also meet the British Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines and key investors in the UK.

International Trade Secretary Liam Fox, said:

Trade and investment between the UK and the Philippines is strong and growing with UK exports of goods and services to the Philippines at £628 million in 2015.

Global Britain is open for business and we are working to raise the commercial profile of the UK in the Philippines. We welcome the recent investments made by major Philippine investors and encourage more investors to take advantage of opportunities in the UK.

After the Philippines, Dr Fox will be travelling to Malaysia and Indonesia.
