The British High Commission is pleased to announce that the Rt Hon Hugo Swire MP, Minister of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, will be in Singapore on 8 September 2014.

During his visit, Mr Swire will call on Ms Grace Fu, Singapore’s Second Minister for Foreign Affairs, Second Minister for the Environment and Water Resources and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office.

Mr Swire will open a Responsible Investment in Burma event organised by the British High Commission and CSR Asia and hosted by Olswang LLP and supported by the British Chamber of Commerce. He will also meet with representatives of the British business community during a lunch reception at Eden Hall and visit British Telecom’s Regional Headquarters in Singapore in his capacity as the Ministerial Strategic Partnership Manager for BT.

Speaking in advance of Mr Swire’s visit, HE Antony Phillipson, British High Commissioner to Singapore, said:

Mr Swire’s visit, his second to Singapore, comes just ahead of the historic first State Visit by Singapore President Tony Tan Keng Yam to London in October. This State Visit, as well as those made by UK Ministers to Singapore this year, underscores the very close, deep and multi-layered relationship between our countries. Mr Swire’s programme here will reflect the range of interests we share with a call on Ms Grace Fu, meetings with a range of UK companies engaged in the tech sector and a seminar to encourage responsible investment in Burma.
