British Foreign Ministry, or Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), as an organisation works hard to ensure that it has the best diplomatic service in the world. To achieve this, the leadership identified three key areas of successful operation: Policy, People and Network.
Over the last few years a whole range of projects targeting all three directions were introduced and the process is ongoing.
We believe that an organisations success, respect and influence is down to the people that work there. That is why, very recently we initiated the One Global Workforce, programme which aims to achieve Excellence through People, in other words supports and helps maximise the potential of everyone working for us.
The programme includes the new concept of Global People Principles and sets out Global Minimum Standards.
The Global People Principles support the vision of working together as one team. The Principles apply to all, UK-based and all Local Staff and are embedded in our organisational values—taking responsibility, encouraging innovation and working together.
One of the tangible deliveries of this programme will, for example, be establishing minimum annual holiday days and provision of equal learning and development opportunities for everyone working in our organisation across the global network.
Our Ambassador acknowledged her commitment to embed the values, behaviours and policies by signing the FCO’s Global People Principles document in Tbilisi Embassy. The Principles will be displayed in the Embassy and be available for everyone to view.
