Consultants from Building Research Establishment visit Chile
Professionals from Building Research Establishment (BRE) will launch a project to develop a sustainable construction code in the country.

The organisation Building Research Establishment (BRE) has been awarded resources from the Foreign Office’s Prosperity Fund to support the work of the Chilean government in the design and implementation of a sustainable construction code for the country.
BRE is a British organisation dedicated to consulting, training and analysing innovations in urban environments and the construction sector. The organisation has broad international experience in the design and implementation of sustainable construction standards.
During the last few days of July, BRE consultants had their first visit to Chile where they met with the Minister of Housing Rodrigo Perez and British Ambassador Jon Benjamin to kick-off the project.
In addition, the consultants held various work meetings with the principle actors from the construction sector. The activities of the project will take place from July 2013 until January 2014.
The implementation of this project will in the medium term permit the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and increase the energy efficiency of houses built in the country
