British Official hails UK / UAE cooperation in law enforcement

The Permanent Secretary at the United Kingdom’s Home Office, Mark Sedwill welcomes cooperation between the UK and UAE authorities.

The Permanent Secretary at the United Kingdom’s Home Office, Mark Sedwill, visited the UAE on 10th and 11th March for a series of high-level meetings during which he welcomed the cooperation between the UK and UAE authorities on law enforcement issues and sought to further strengthen the relationship.

On 10th March Mr Sedwill met with His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior for the signing of letters of intent confirming that the UAE will host the We Protect Children Online global summit in 2015 following the London summit that took place in December 2014. In addition to a number of other high-level meetings - including with His Excellency Dr. Nasser Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of His Highness Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and His Excellency Mohammad bin Hamad Al-Badi, Director General of the Ministry of Justice - Mr Sedwill also visited the Hedayah Centre and the Future of Borders Conference.

Speaking after his visit, Mr Sedwill said:

The excellent relationship between the UK and UAE on law enforcement is vital and has resulted in a number of successful prosecutions, sending a strong message to criminals. I am very grateful for the opportunity to meet our key partners in the UAE to thank them for their work and to discuss ways that we can further strengthen cooperation in tackling organised crime, money laundering and terrorism.
