The UK, partnered with the UAE and Somalia, hosted the Summit, supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF). On the same day, the UK government published the international development white paper International development in a contested world: ending extreme poverty and tackling climate change.

The Summit aimed to:

  • concentrate international attention on the deepening global food security crisis and help boost efforts to achieve Zero Hunger and end malnutrition (Sustainable Development Goal 2)
  • highlight support for lasting solutions that prevent famine and wider food insecurity

The Summit aimed to show practical action achieving real, lasting improvements in people’s lives, through UK expertise, partnerships and science.
