Pre-release access to the UK security export statistics 2024
Published 16 December 2025
The Core Principle of Trustworthiness (Be Transparent) of the Standards for Official Statistics requires that access to official statistics before their public release is limited to certain individuals. This includes those involved in the production of the statistics and the preparation of the release, and those involved for quality assurance and operational purposes.
Furthermore, the circulation of statistics in their final form ahead of their publication should be restricted to eligible recipients, in line with the rules and principles on pre-release access set out in legislation for the UK and devolved administrations.
Pre-release access may only be granted in accordance with the rules and principles set out in the Pre-release Access to Official Statistics Order 2008. In addition, the order requires that records are published of those who have access prior to public release.
