Transformation of gross domestic product in Blue Book 2019
In Blue Book 2019, the ONS will introduce a new framework to produce real estimates of GDP and introduce improvements to key data sources, producing a better and more coherent measure of economic activity. This framework is considered the international ‘gold standard’ and will also meet ONS’ long held aim of producing ‘double deflated’ estimates of GDP by industry, which is widely recognised as the best approach to producing volume estimates of GDP.
