In 2015 Analytical Services Unit (ASU) were commissioned by the Social Security Agency (SSA) to conduct research on the behaviour of non-UK Nationals living in Northern Ireland, specifically with regard to their current and historical interaction with the Social Security Benefit system. This is particularly important given the need to understand the potential impact of planned changes to immigration requirements within the Social Security system.
