Details of the national non-domestic rates collected by local authorities in England in 2009-10 were announced on 25 January 2011.

The latest statistics release includes data from 2005-06 to 2009-10 and updates those statistics previously released on 9 September 2009.

This release provides data from auditor certified returns and the changes level over the previously published figures are generally small.

The key points from the latest release are:

  • The net rate yield (after allowances for changes in respect of previous years and reliefs) increased by 1.8 per cent to £19.4 billion in 2009-10.
  • The contribution to the pool (net rate yield after allowances for collection costs including losses) increased by 1.7 per cent to £19.0 billion in 2009-10.
  • Between 2005-06 and 2009-10 the contribution to the pool from the local lists increased by £3.4 billion or 21 per cent.
